23 Filipino teachers move to Shreveport and bring their knowledge and skills to the US . The report describes how this is currently happening in Cado District, Louisiana. The draw is the pay. Caddo District "officials are pleased to have the teachers instead of long-term substitutes who had been teaching in dozens of math, science and special education classes."

It is great to see teachers getting better opportunities abroad. Earning US$3600 annually in the Philippines compared to US$39,000 is way too far apart. This will also pressure educational institutions locally to beef up their packages for the teachers.
At times it is so depressing to hear that a lot of Filipino teachers do well in other countries while some of our Filipino youth are struggling in school and some cannot even get the quality education that they need. But I myself have plans to teach abroad after I finish my MBA. What can we do? We need to sacrifice to earn more for our family. So sad but true. :(
